I found the animation of ED209 made him really scary (as a kid watching it back in the day). It's just creepy.

ED-209 was animated by stop motion royalty Phil Tippett. He animated the tauntauns and walkers in Empire and was originally down to animate the Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park before they were show a cg test model and he realised he was out of work. He went on to do animatics for JP and also pioneered go motion. Think he created motion control puppets for animating the bugs in Starship Troopers too.

Love how these guys know their shit. From looking at things and knowing how the light works, why it does what it does. Doing action scenes they're going to know the difficulties of action effects especially like fire and blood and how those should look and why they're hard. Great series.

In reference to the blood knife/sword im pretty suprised people who say are fans of MK forgot Sub-Zero can freeze blood. He did it in MKX. XD People really think Skarlett is the only one who can manipulate blood... despite her magic and creation owing all to Shao Kahn. Other n that. Im watching the hell out of this movie.

They did the same motion tracking on the trex in Jurassic park. With the help of stop motion animator Phil Tibet’s.

I've always loved that scene from the Our RoboCop Remake. It's so fucking ridiculous. It's like the people who made it thought, "Hey, let's make this quick scene of RoboCop shooting a rapist in the dick and make it an epic action set piece," then they not only went out and did it, but they did it flawlessly. There was way more planning and manpower involved in making that a reality than the person who pitched it (most likely as a joke) probably initially considered, but they did it anyway.

The only thing missing from that trailer is Ed Boon shouting "get over here" instead. No matter who your actor is for Scorpion, its sacrilege to not have Ed Boon voice that one line.

I never knew the bat was CGI. Obviously a great effect, and Contagtion was a great movie for it's relative realism and mundanity of dealing with a pandemic.

My favourite worst ever effect is the scene in Titanic where it pans back from the ship sailing near the start of the movie and the people walking on the deck look like the worst plastisine crap your pants figures ever produced !!!

I always saw footage of flying foxes in the middle of nowhere like the one they showed. Imagine my surprise when I went to live in Australia and they're almost flying into you in the middle of the city.

I don’t know if this comment will be seen, but if you really want something ancient and wonky it would be the 1982 film cavemen, mind you there’s a lot of shots in this film not appropriate for young viewers, but nonetheless plenty of shots that are, just a suggestion.

@_ae8 in the Greenland trailer has a really great plane explosion VFX. The little gas / flame tendrils spread out across the ground really caught my eye. You should check out the trailer or movie for the next VFX artist react.

I never thought I'd see the day come where the Robocop remake is unfavorably compared to Michael Bay's trainwreck, Pearl Harbor. But... yeah. I can't disagree that the action in Pearl Harbor looks _way_ better. I'm obligated to compliment it now. Dammit xD .

@Corridor Crew - Jurassic Park had a form of motion capture even before the example in this video. When the production realized that they were moving beyond stop-motion because CG was advanced enough that they could use that to animate the dinosaurs, they still utilized the stop-motion animators to animate little rigs that captured frame-by-frame poses of animals, that were then interpolated and cleaned up for the movie.

Okay, I know you get a lot of comments but there is one scene that has blown my mind and I want to know thoughts from experts. In the first Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr there is an explosion scene on the docks that is amazing. Slow motion with what has to be a handful of practical effects but the explosions, flying debris and everything just look spot on. Would love for that to be included in one of your react videos!
