I have a wire running to my garage router. How can I make the wireless seamless? 2.4 & 5ghz have matching ssid & passwords. If I use wifi calling and walk from garage to house, my call drops. I'm in a near dead cell zone. Garage router is Buffalo ddwrt.

@Jose Javier Flores thank you. The seam isn't 2.4 & 5, but the separate routers. My phone uses 5ghz. I want to be able to seamlessly go from one router to the other without dropping call.

Check to see if your routers support band steering. What this will do is make both 2.4 and 5Ghz networks have the same name. However, it will try to "steer" your 5Ghz compatible devices to the 5Ghz band. If your routers don't support this feature. the next best thing would be to manually change the configuration on both routers so that they have the same SSIDs and passwords.

The fact is, If you have the option of using a cable and not be impacted by it, it is best to use a cable. Wireless is not as reliable as hardwiring period, and does not have all the wireless security issues. I use cables where it doesn't matter.. and I have wireless as well for mobile devices etc.

If you change internet providers, you will have a different public IP address. If you just change provider and not router, you should have the same private IP addresses for your devices. However, if you get a new router from your new provider, you will most likely get different private IP addresses for your devices.

The exact way depends on your router. Its not feasible to make a video covering every router and manufacturer known to man kind. Your best bet is to read your router's manual.

I loved the video! I have a dual-speed router, 2.4 & 5.0. 2.4 IS enabled but my router, a Netgear, "chooses' the best speed for me, which is 5.0. We backup an iPhone nightly, have an android cell connected and my desktop computer. I have a Vivitar Wifi camera that ONLY works on 2.4Ghz and the Vivitar app will not load on my android cell. Question: Is it okay to disable the 5.0Ghz long enough to load the app on 2.3Ghz...and, when complete, enable the 5.0? If you have a better answer, I will take it!!! Thank you!

You may want to look into the IT side of computing. Programming is great and all, but it won't necessarily help you with understanding home routers and the theory behind how networks work. Look into computer networking. There are plenty of videos and guides and articles that explain networks as well as other IT topics.
